Our brave cat Puffy came into our lives under heartbreaking circumstances: My husband was taking out the trash when he suddenly heard a loud, whimpering cry. He followed the sound and found Puffy, a frightened stray.

When my husband brought him food and water, Puffy ignored him. Instead, he went straight to my husband, thanked him, let him pet him, and seemed to be crying. He followed him to the front door and cried out, "Please don't leave me alone!" He mustered his courage and finally came into our apartment all by himself.

Although introducing him to our other cats is still a challenge, we don't want to give up on Puffy and don't want to take him to a shelter. The vet estimates he's only about a year old and suspects he was abandoned.

Puffy is extremely attached to my husband. When he leaves for work, Puffy cries after him like a baby.  Despite his bad experiences, he loves cuddles, lets himself be brushed nicely, and accepts eye drops.

Since he's used to being outdoors, Puffy really enjoys walks on a leash – he's so happy and grateful then. We'll never let him roam freely on the streets of Berlin again! But he always wants to come back quickly, because his home is now his safe haven.

🩺 The Months-Long Battle Against Cornea Nigra

On the Sunday after his arrival (at the end of July), we took Puffy to the vet because of his swollen, oozing eyes. After the initial treatment, we immediately had him neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

But the eye condition is serious. An eye specialist gave us the shocking diagnosis: cornea nigra (corneal necrosis). We've already paid €300 for the diagnosis.

From July until now, in December, we've been treating Puffy daily with antibiotics and eye drops to keep the pain under control.  This is not a long-term solution, however: His eyes are constantly watering and profusely, and the affected eye keeps becoming infected. Each new infection forces us to buy expensive medication again – a vicious cycle of pain and expense.

Puffy urgently needs specialized surgery to end this condition. The damaged area must be removed and a new lens implanted.

The total cost for this life-saving and complex procedure is €2,000. This sum is our only hope of finally giving him a pain-free life.

Our mission: We want to finally give this cat, who has fought so hard for his family and placed his complete trust in us, freedom from pain!

Goal: €2,000

Purpose: Urgent eye surgery (cornea nigra), lens replacement, anesthesia, medication, and aftercare.

Current progress: Puffy is already neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. €300 for the initial diagnosis has already been paid.

Please help us give Puffy this gift of health. Every euro brings him closer to recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and your help!
