Help Us Plant 5,000 Trees in a Desert Town — The Al-Waha Project

My name is Zakaryae Abdellaoui, and I grew up in Tendrara — a small town on the edge of the Moroccan desert. In summer, the winds turn into sandstorms. Streets fill with dust. Children and elders have almost no shaded spaces. Our village feels the impact of climate change every year.

But I believe we can change that.

After attending COP28 and witnessing global environmental action, I decided to start The Al-Waha Project: a community-led plan to plant 5,000 trees to protect our village, improve air quality, and bring life back to our public spaces.

We are not a big organization. We are just local young people who love our community — and we are determined to transform it.
