Stopping: ending the fundraiser, your account, donating

Stopping

We recommend leaving the fundraiser online and only closing it for donations once your fundraiser has ended. This way, visitors can still see your fundraiser and send you messages via the contact button. You can also post updates to keep your donors informed of the progress of your fundraiser/goal. Donors appreciate it when they can stay informed, even after your fundraiser has ended.

You can stop your fundraiser at any time, take your fundraiser offline, delete your account or just close it for donations.

Stopping manually

If your campaign has ended and you want to stop the fundraiser, the organiser has 3 options to do so.

We strongly recommend choosing option 1 (see below): closing for donations but keeping the fundraiser page online.

Even after your fundraiser ends, it may still be important for people to still be able to visit your campaign page. That way, you can still post updates and/or communicate with your donors, and visitors of your campaign page can still send you messages via the Contact button. Moreover, it can lead to questions if a fundraiser page is 'suddenly' offline/gone, even though the fundraiser has ended.

3 Options for terminating your fundraiser:

Go to your dashboard and click on Close or end fundraiser… at your fundraiser in the My fundraisers block. Then choose one of the options below:

1. Close for donations (recommended)

Your fundraiser page stays online, nobody can donate anymore.

  • Donors keep access to the page and your updates.
  • Visitors can still contact you.
  • Links you shared keep working.
  • Monthly donors will be informed that their donation stops.

You can also add a closing message to your campaign page.

2. Take the page offline

Nobody can see the fundraiser page anymore. You can place it back online at any time.

  • Donors who look for the page are sent to the overview.
  • Monthly donations pause and stop after 60 days offline.

3. Delete the fundraiser: remove the fundraiser completely

The page disappears for good. Donations and payouts stay in your account overview, as the law requires.

You can delete this fundraiser once all donations have been paid out. Until then, close it for donations (option 1).

Is your fundraiser not online yet? Then you can delete it directly with Delete the fundraiser. To confirm, you type the title of your fundraiser.

A removal order is also sent to Google so the campaign is no longer findable on Google. Please note that it can take some time between removing a fundraising campaign and Google actually removing it. This is out of our control; it is up to Google. However, the removal request is automatically passed on to Google immediately at the time of removing the campaign.

The advantage of only deleting a campaign as opposed to deleting an account is that you can easily create another campaign whenever you want. The bank account sign-up is one-time and per account and therefore does not need to be gone through again when you start a new campaign. After all, the bank account is already verified.

How? > Dashboard > Close or end fundraiser… > Delete the fundraiser

Delete your account completely

You do this in your dashboard under Account > Settings > Delete account. If you still have fundraisers, you first get the choice to take them offline or close them for donations and keep your account. All data, including your profile, will then be deleted.

Your account will be permanently deleted. You will have to log in again and create a new account if you want to start a new fundraiser in the future.

How? > Dashboard > Account > Settings > Delete account

Automatic termination (preset your action to stop automatically)

1. End date: stop automatically when you reach a pre-set end date

How? > Dashboard > My fundraisers > Edit fundraiser > Settings > The fundraiser has an end date

This is set to off by default. If you enable this button and have entered an end date, your fundraiser will be closed for donations on the end date. The page stays online. You will receive a reminder a week in advance.

2. Target amount: stop automatically when a preset target amount is reached

How? > Dashboard > My fundraisers > Edit fundraiser > Settings > Disable donating when target amount is reached

The default setting is off. If you enable this button and you have entered a target amount, you will receive an e-mail when your target amount is reached that your fundraiser will close for donations in 7 days. In that e-mail you can also choose Keep collecting. The page stays online.
