For many elderly women living in the urban slums of Tirunelveli, every day is a struggle against hunger, illness, and loneliness. Most are widows from the marginalized Dalit scavenger community who spent their lives as sanitation workers, domestic helpers, or daily wage labourers. Today, age and poor health have left them unable to earn even a single meal.
Vizhuthukal Trust is launching this fundraiser to provide monthly ration support to these vulnerable senior women, ensuring they can live with dignity and better health. Each monthly support kit will include rice, essential groceries, fresh vegetables, a saree, and pain relief balm to meet their basic nutritional and personal care needs.
Your donation will be used to purchase and distribute these essential items directly to deserving beneficiaries. Every contribution helps provide nutritious food, relieve physical pain, and restore hope to women who have been forgotten by society. The funds will cover the cost of rice, groceries, vegetables, clothing, pain balm, packing, transportation, and distribution, ensuring that every donation reaches those who need it most.

Vizhuthukal Trust is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 by socially conscious women who themselves endured discrimination, exploitation, and poverty, with a collective commitment to serve humanity through the principle of “By the Women, For the Women, and Of the Women,” dedicating their lives to uplifting marginalized and vulnerable communities through compassion, justice, and empowerment.
Vizhuthukal Trust was founded by a group of committed and socially conscious women who dedicated their lives to uplifting the downtrodden, vulnerable, and marginalized communities with compassion, courage, and a deep sense of social justice. The organization primarily serves Dalits, women domestic workers, scavenger communities, elderly persons, women, and children who continue to face social exclusion, discrimination, and economic hardship. Since its inception, Vizhuthukal Trust has been relentlessly working to empower marginalized communities through education, livelihood promotion, housing, income-generation initiatives, water and sanitation improvement, and social awareness programmes. Through grassroots mobilization, gender sensitization, and community participation, the Trust has strengthened the voices of the oppressed, enabling them to demand their rights, access civic amenities, and lead lives of dignity, equality, and self-reliance.
