Die Fortsetzung von "BALTIC HEALING." Eine Vertiefung in die Heilkunst der Pirts (traditionelle lettische Sauna).

Ich hatte im Herbst 2025 bereits eine Reise nach Lettland / Latvia geplant. Doch dann ist meine Finanzierung weggebrochen!
Ich bin dann trotzdem gefahren, die Pirts-Meisterinnen in Latvia haben mir geholfen die Reise so kostengünstig wie möglich zu halten. Ich habe weitere Interviews gedreht und zwei Pirts-Rituale. Nun habe ich die Gelegenheit im Mai und Juni weiterzudrehen.
Wenn ihr mich unterstützt, kann ich weiter forschen und werde die Ergebnisse dann in Form eines Dokumentarfilmes veröffentlichen. Die Unterstützung hilft mir die Reisekosten zu decken und in Ruhe den Film zu schneiden. Vielen herzlichen Dank für Eure Hilfe!
In der Pirts (traditionelle lettische Sauna) hat eine alte europäische Heiltradition bis in die heutige Zeit überlebt. In meinem Film BALTIC HEALING gab es erste Einblicke in diese Tradition.
Steam & Spirituality taucht noch tiefer ein in die Heilkunst der Pirts. Es gibt die Pirts als ein Ort, an dem Familie und Freunde zusammen kommen. Und es gibt die Pirts als ein heiliger Ort für Rituale, in dem die Menschen sich wieder mit sich selbst, der Natur und dem Kosmos verbinden können. Welche Pflanzen und Bäume werden in der Pirts verwendet? Was ist die Bedeutung der lettischen Symbole, die zurückreichen bis in die Zeit des Matriarchats? Und wie ist all das Verbunden mit der lettischen Kosmologie, den Göttinnen und Müttern, dem Jahreskreis der Sonne und den Ritualen? Ich mache mich auf die Suche nach den matriarchalen Elementen in der lettischen Heilkunde der Pirts. Es ist altes europäisches “schamanisches” Wissen.
Ich hoffe, dass dieser Film auch euch inspirieren wird die Heilkunst der Frauen und unsere uralten europäischen Wurzeln wieder zu beleben.

I had already planned a trip to Latvia for the fall of 2025. But then my funding fell through!
I went anyway, and the Pirts masters in Latvia helped me keep the trip as affordable as possible. I filmed additional interviews and two pirt rituals. Now I have the opportunity to continue filming in May and June.

In the pirts (traditional Latvian sauna), an ancient European healing tradition has survived to the present day. My film BALTIC HEALING offered a first glimpse into this tradition.
Steam & Spirituality delves even deeper into the healing art of the pirts. The pirts serves as a place where family and friends gather. And it also serves as a sacred space for rituals, where people can reconnect with themselves, nature, and the cosmos.
Which plants and trees are used in the pirt? What is the meaning of the Latvian symbols that date back to the time of matriarchy? And how is all of this connected to Latvian cosmology, the goddesses and mothers, the annual cycle of the sun, and the rituals? I set out to explore the matriarchal elements in the Latvian healing traditions of the pirts. It is ancient European “shamanic” knowledge.
I hope this film will inspire you, too, to revive the healing arts of women and our ancient European roots.
